Therapist-in-training

Hi there! Have you ever felt like your thoughts are racing but the words just won't come out? Have you ever felt the anxiety of overthinking and overanalyzing? Or that despite knowing what you “should” do, making changes feels overwhelming? Perhaps you're navigating the complexities of interpersonal relationships, cultural identity, family expectations, or that persistent feeling that no one quite understands your experience. I want you to know that these feelings are deeply valid, and you're not alone in this journey. Taking this first step toward healing shows incredible courage, and thank you for considering sharing your story with me.

I'm Toni, a first-year Master's student in Social Work at Columbia University, building upon my foundation in my bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from NYU. I believe in creating a genuine and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. My approach combines warmth and gentle humor with practical strategies, creating a space where both healing and growth can flourish.

While my foundation combines client-centered therapy with CBT and an existential approach, I believe in adapting therapeutic approaches to what works best for you. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from various modalities to create a personalized therapeutic experience that aligns with your needs and goals. Together, we'll work on transforming overwhelming thoughts into manageable steps, building confidence in your decisions, and helping you feel more grounded in who you are. Lastly, as a 1.5 generation Asian American therapist-in-training, I bring both professional training and personal understanding to our sessions, especially when it comes to navigating cultural expectations, family dynamics, and the unique pressures of straddling multiple identities. I create a trauma-informed, culturally affirming space where you can explore these experiences openly and draw strength from your heritage.

Your story matters, and I'm here to listen with empathy, understanding, and zero judgment. Let's collaborate on your journey toward healing and self-discovery, celebrating each step forward while honoring your unique experiences and strengths.
