Have you ever felt isolated or as though no one truly understands you? Or that your voice isn’t being heard? I’m here to remind you that you're not alone in facing these emotions. My name is Catherine, and I am a second-year Master's student in the Social Work program at Rutgers University. I also hold a Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Mitchell College.
In our sessions, we’ll work together to develop personalized strategies to help you manage your emotions, reduce anxiety, and enhance your daily functioning. We'll create tools tailored to your needs, equipping you to handle new stressors and experiences. These may include practices like self-care, mindfulness, grounding techniques, and more. We may also explore past or present traumas, childhood experiences, or current challenges that could be impacting your daily life.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in both psychodynamic and CBT theories, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed care. I incorporate interventions from various theories to tailor each session to the client’s unique needs and therapeutic goals. I aim to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, seen, and understood. I believe in empowering clients to take control of their therapeutic journey and healing process. Together, we’ll form a team, navigating each session as partners.
I am deeply committed to addressing early childhood trauma, with a special focus on racial and ethnic equality. As an advocate, I am particularly passionate about transracial adoptee issues, drawing from my own healing journey to offer empathy and compassion. I also strive to raise awareness and educate others about the complexities and significance of transracial adoption. My long-term goal is to eventually open a private practice where I can support others on their healing journey. Above all, my goal is to help you feel more comfortable in your existence by enabling you to learn new tools that empower you in everyday life.
